Marginal Community in Emerging Smart City

Project Description:

The project focuses on the equitable issues in accessing to public service in smart cities, particularly in relation to inclusive smart cities, marginal communities, and the digital divide. Specifically, I interested in whether the use of information and communication technology (ICT) exacerbates inequalities for marginalized groups in these processes.

Through a mixed-method approach, I analyze the case of Hangzhou, an emerging smart city in China, to comprehend the underlying reasons and mechanisms behind this phenomenon.

The research outcomes will contribute to theoretical and empirical knowledge, offering insights for natural based solution policy-making decisions to achieve a human-centered, equitable, and inclusive allocation of public services in smart cities.

Key words: Smart city, Marginal community, Digital divide, Equity and inclusive development, accessing to public services
